Speaking of Good Causes…
One of the things I like about this community (not just Best Sex Bloggers, but the larger kinky community, especially my fellow ropesters) is that there is both a willingness to share and a willingness to work. What sets aside a cause like Catalina Loves Her Daughter from a charity is that she didn’t come out and say “Give me money to help me out!” No, instead she said “Hey, if you want to win some really fantastic prizes, I’m holding a raffle. Incidentally, the money raised will go to give a hearty fuck-you to some bigoted bastards, but mainly you can get some really great stuff from some really cool people.”
LIkewise, when my friends Nawa-G and lil’ Jen decided to help out a friend who’d suffered personal tragedy, they didn’t just say “hey, she needs money, we’re passing the hat.” No, they did the online equivalent of a bake sale. They have some fantastic items in their silent auction – let me especially direct your attention to the flat paddles made by Samos, which I would be reviewing in my PainLab were it not for the fact that mine was stolen at a local event. Yes, they’re that in demand.
So aside from the fact that we are every bit as much a supportive community as [insert intolerant judgmental group of assholes here], hey, want some cool bondage/impact play gear at a price that can’t be beat? Go help out Mistress Eve.
But don’t go complaining that I’m wasting precious bytes by talking about it. Somebody’s gonna read this, they’re going to buy a raffle ticket from Catalina and bid on one of the items in the auction and be really, really happy with both. That’s who I’m writing for.

I think you’re totally right about the way Catalina went about things. She started out with three prizes an now she has dozens to give away. A lot of people are going to get some *rad* stuff. I’m also really thrilled that she is going to help out the NCSF as well.

We really deliberated on doing this at all, and I must say… we’re totally overwhelmed by the response, support, and fellowship the commUNITY has given us. I’ve been moved to tears several times during all this. Well put, Graydancer, and seconded, Ellie.
